Caramel Chocolate Cake


33 x 23 x 5 cm baking pan (13 x 9 x 2 inch)



2 cups flour

1 ¼ cup sugar

½ cup baking cocoa powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

1 cup milk

1 tablespoon vinegar

1 egg

2/3 cup oil

1 cup hot, strong coffee



1 tin of caramel

250ml cream

1 chocolate flake



Mix the dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. Add the milk and vinegar, beaten egg, oil and finally the coffee. Mix all together until there are no lumps. Pour into a greased baking dish. Bake for 25- 30 minutes. With an electric mixer, beat the cream and caramel together until smooth and fluffy. Spread over the cooled cake and top with a crumbled chocolate flake!
